Whether you're a table-stomping, beer swilling apres ski enthusiast or a reserved cup-of-coffee-off-the-slopes kind of skier, you can't fail to have heard of Val d'Isere's famous Folie Douce apres ski venue. The Folie - as its affectionately nicknamed - welcomes skiers in their droves every day during the winter ski season for it's tubthumping bass, live music and friendly, care-free atmosphere. This year, for those keen to make the most of the piste-side venue, it just got even better.Â

With lift pass offers, price freezes and ski-all-in deals already available in chalets from le Fornet to la Daille, the early bird really can catch the worm!

Before skiing was a sport, skis were in use by Scandinavian farmers, hunters and warriors through the middle ages.

With so much to consider, mull over and calculate, the benefits of early research for parents looking to take the children away to family-friendly resorts like Val d’Isere are endless. If you’re keen on a peak date such as half term, New Year, Easter or Christmas, demand is high whilst the children are out of school and early research and booking are important. It’s the best way to ensure you get what you want from the holiday, at the price you want.

The Espace Killy ski area is home to the neighbouring resorts of Val d’Isere and Tignes, and has proven itself a very popular destination with Brits over the past 10-20 years. With over 300km of varied terrain the skiing remains the biggest draw, but for many visitors the choice between the two resorts often comes down to which one offers better nightlife.
Famously the Espace Killy ski area is, more than any other, designed for skiers to be able to cross between the resorts with ease. It’s part of what makes the 300km ski area so special. But what about if you’re looking for something a little more unique?
Anyone who has been to
Val d’Isere knows that it is not a resort known for its family friendly fun. That’s not to say it’s not a great pick if you’re looking for your next family ski trip, mind. It just doesn’t have that sort of reputation. That’s no surprise when its notoriously wild après bar, the Folie Douce is known as the Ibiza of the Alps.
There comes a time in every skier’s life, when it’s necessary to buy a new pair of ski boots.
