Après Ski in Val d'Isère
Val d'Isère is one of the top ski resorts of Europe for both its skiing terrain and après ski. Straight after a great day on the slopes après ski starts in bars such as Bananas and Café Face. Après ski then continues through to the early hours of the following day – so if you can keep up with the party scene of Val d'Isere you will be probably find yourself in Dicks T-Bar in the early hours of each morning.
For those of you looking for a bit more of relaxed atmosphere after a hard days skiing can try out one of the many quieter bars with roaring log fires.
If shopping is on your hot list of Après ski activities - Val d'Isere will not disappoint. There are designer shops, technical winter sports shops and every Monday the open-air market comes to Val d’Isere.
From a party night to a quiet apres ski drink or a quality meal, we've selected our favourite places to go (below) and have divided them into two sections: bars and restaurants. Enjoy!
La Folie Douce

If Champagne spray, pounding Eurotrash music, and thrusting, spandex-clad French singers are your cup of tea, then look no further than a typical après ski session at the Folie Douce in Val d’Isere. Set right up on the mountain, at the top of the home runs coming down into La Daille, the Folie Douce’s music can be heard reverberating through the resort from 4pm onwards. The “piece de resistance” of the whole Folie Douce operation is Keli Starlight – owner and singer – who lunges on the bar, twisting pop songs into his own crazy remixes (cover your ears, children), while wearing a variety of plastic-and-faux-fur creations. He is supported by a live sax player, DJ, and a drummer positioned on the roof above all the mayhem. If you go to Val d'Isere and you don't go to the Folie, you need to have a word with yourself.

Dicks Tea Bar has become an iconic name in the French Alps having been established over 30 years ago – a place where countless generations of winter holiday-makers have come to let their hair down after a day on the slopes. From winter season 2010/2011, Dicks Alpine Bars Ltd, has been under new ownership. The group’s venues, Dicks Val D'Isere & Meribel and The Den Bar & Kitchen, Meribel have undergone some major renovations and general upgrades. The most notable change is the introduction of ‘The Den Bar and Kitchen’ in Meribel which replaces Pizza Express. In Meribel, the introduction of The Den means guests can come earlier than before and enjoy some drinks, grab some food and listen to live music before heading downstairs for dancing in the famous Dicks nightclub. With the 2 venues being inter-connected, entry to the nightclub is free if coming from The Den. The various changes make for an exciting season ahead, we look forward to welcoming you this coming winter!!

Saloon
Saloon (pronounced 'Sa-sa-sa-SALOOON' loudly when you first walk in for an even bigger welcome from the bar-staff) could possibly be Val's best après-ski bar for those of you who know how to party in a truly cosmopolitan environment. Staffed by Danes, Brits, French and even a few Australians this bar is a great place to mix - either straight off the pistes (convenient location) or later in the evening. You will always find something going on including live music, funky DJs to cater for all tastes, pool contests and cocktail flinging in the back bar, The lord Helmets are a must!!! As an additional bonus feature if you are heading along to Saloon just after your sliding ends, you can conveniently leave your equipment under the watchful supervision of one of the Saloon-crew. The bar operates a 'cloakroom' type service for no charge whilst you enjoy yourselves. This is great if you have had 'one too many' by the time you leave as the numbered tags mean the staff can identify your skis on your behalf!
