Val d’Isere is very easily accessible by car, train and plane. If you choose to fly, it’s very likely that you’ll be able to book a package with a tour operator where transfers are included. If you want to make your own arrangements, pre-booking your airport transfer will save you time and hassle.

The closest airport is Chambery about 2 hours away. The most likely airports you’ll fly into on a charter flight are Grenoble and Geneva, both 3 hours away. Lyon is also within reach and is a major airport but it’s 3.5 hours from Val d’Isere.

The most cost effective option is to book shared coach transfers, or for a more exclusive experience, you could book a private taxi or luxury chauffeur driven car.

Car hire

Driving to Val d’Isere is very straightforward. Once you get to Bourg St Maurice there is just one road up to the resort. Car hire could be a great option if you’re travelling with a family or with lots of luggage. You can simply pile the kids and your cases into the car and get going without having to worry about waiting for other people and multiple drop offs in resort.

If you want to hire a car, check the parking arrangements at your accommodation; it might be necessary to reserve a space.
