From a nostalgic point of view, this is the end of an era for one Tignes’ most iconic lifts. The long serving Aeroski gondola in Le Lac is being dismantled as we write this, and it will never transport you up to the peak of Toviere, back to Val d’Isère ever again.
A new flight has been announced by Darwin Airlines from Cambridge to Geneva making Val d'Isere very accessible as it is only a 2 hour 30 minute drive away. Darwin Airlines will be offering 6 flights through the week and are available to book from 2nd September 2013.
Being one of the most snow sure resorts in the world, you shouldn’t need an excuse to book a late season holiday to Val d’Isère, but Winter X Games may well be the icing on the cake that you needed. Every March, the best freestyle skiers and snowboarders on the planet descend on this amazing event in the Espace Killy ski area.
If you are lucky enough to be heading out to Val d’Isère this January, you may get the chance to watch a spot of polo on the snow. The BMW Polo Masters Tour will be returning for its 6th edition in January 2014 and it really is quite a spectacle.
The 2013 ski season has ended, and what an incredible season it was, with higher snowfalls in the Alps than we have seen in decades. The current trend seems to be that snow levels are getting better year on year – perhaps this global warming isn’t as bad as first thought!
