With the Winter Olympics in Sochi only two weeks away, many of our GB hopefuls must have been anxious to see whether they had actually been chosen for the final team. On the 22nd January, the 56-strong squad was finally announced and our chances of medals have never been better.
With the inclusion of more freestyle winter sports in this year’s games, Britain has become a force to be reckoned with:
In freestyle skiing, James Woods is a hot favourite for a medal in slopestyle, with a strong showing in the World Championships. Katie Summerhayes is also filled with confidence after the first World Cup skiing medal by a British female in the past 19 years.

In snowboarding, both Jenny Jones and Billy Morgan are expected to contend for a podium finish in their respective slopestyle events after successful seasons.
On top of the new freestyle events, we are also tipped to pick up another 6 medals with John Jackson (bobsleigh), Eve Muirhead and David Murdoch (curling), Elise Christie (speed skating), Shelley Rudman and Lizzy Yarnold (skeleton).
It all kicks off on the 6th February and we will be trying to watch as much of it as possible. Good luck to the team.
