With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, many lonely singletons could soon be coupling up to become star-crossed lovers… that’s if the lifties running Val d’Isere’s Olympique gondola have anything to do with it…

This Valentine's Day - Feb 14^th - keen skiers could get lucky and meet the man or woman of their dreams aboard the resort’s famous Olympique lift. On the big day, the 20-minute gondola will be playing host to a series of pre-booked and blind-date gondola rides!

Groups of lovelorn men and women (3 girls, 3 boys) will hop into the gondola to enjoy spectacular valley views and a swift ride to the top (no pun intended), all in the hope that Cupid’s arrow might strike!

Although previous years have seen just couples booking out the gondola to enjoy their Valentine’s rides to the summit in style, this year the fun is open to singletons as well. Bring a picnic, perhaps a bottle of Champagne, and enjoy a moment with your special someone at a heady 2000 metre altitude!

Tickets cost the princely sum of 25 Euros per person for singles or 50 Euros per couple – a small price to pay to enjoy a little Alpine intimacy surrounded by nothing but blue skies and those soaring peaks. They’re on sale at the Val d’Isere tourist office, but with the 14^th Feb fast approaching, the clock is ticking!
